A Married Couple's Journey to Stop an Unjust Deportation
A Demand for Human-Centered Immigration Reform

Deporting Love

On November 28, 2005, Luis Enrique Gonzalez-Ortiz walked across the U.S. border and turned himself in. Fearful of gang recruitment, extortion, crime, and violence that had ravaged his home country of El Salvador, the 19-year old left everything he knew and loved behind. Never to see his family again, he made the long trek to the United States in search of safety. Fifteen years later -- with an immigration-approved marriage to U.S. citizen spouse Harlon J. Wilson -- the couple is fighting an unjust deportation.

Taking a stand against corruption and injustice in U.S. immigration policy, the couple has taken their case to the Federal courts to call for human-centered immigration reform. They're also awaiting an April 8, 2020 asylum hearing.
